This week we discuss the 2003 film Thirteen: A thirteen-year-old girl’s relationship with her mother is put to the test as she discovers drugs, sex, and petty crime in the company of her cool but troubled best friend. (from IMDb). Starring Holly Hunter and Evan Rachel Wood in her breakout role. We compare this movie to the effect the controversial Netflix film “Cuties” has on contemporary audiences and the relatability Thirteen has for older millennials who came of age in that era.
